Darrel L. Conn

Funeral services for Darrel L. Conn, 79, of Joshua were held Thursday, November 8, 2001 at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel in Fort Worth. Burial was at Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth. Brother Conn died Monday, November 5, 2001, in Cleburne. He was a retired Machinist for Kodata, Inc. of Fort Worth. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Joshua, a member of Caddo Grove Lodge #352 in Joshua, Dallas Scottish Rite and Moslah Shrine and a life member of VFW Post #6872. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. Mr. Conn was preceded in death by his wife, M. Patricia Conn in 1989. He is survived by son, Darrel William Conn and wife, Beth, of Granbury; three brothers, Frank, Lloyd and Elray Conn.

Darrel Lee Conn was born in Yellow Pine, Texas. He was the first born of five. The Conn family lived in Fairmont, Texas until they moved to the Mill Creek area of Newton County and then to the Wiergate area of Newton County. Darrel Lee Conn graduated from Burkeville High School on May 21, 1940.

After attending a technical school in East Texas to study engineering he moved to Fort Worth, Texas in Early 1942. He met Mary Patricia Harris and after a short courtship they were married on June 23, 1492 in Parker County, Texas. Darrel Lee Conn served in the Army during WWII. He was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. While overseas he served with the 7th army in North Africa, Italy, France and Germany. After the war he returned to Fort Worth to resume a career as a tool and die maker and shop superintendent for Crown Tool, Worth Well Surveys and Kodata Inc. He later owned his own shop - Darrel L. Conn Machine and Tool Inc. Darrel Lee Conn became a Master Mason in 1961 at Tarrant Lodge #942 and also a member of Caddo Grove Lodge #352, Dallas Scottish Rite and Moslah Shrine. He served as secretary of Caddo Grove Lodge from 1997 to 1999. Darrel and Patricia lived in Joshua until their deaths in 2001 and 1989.

    Darrel Lee Conn was the father of three biological daughters: Barbara Conn Hoffman, Vicky Lee Conn Burris and Pamela Conn Barker. Plus an adopted boy Darrel William Conn

    I just wanted to let everyone know that Darrel Conn also had 3 beautiful daughters that were neglected to be mentioned in the obituary above. Barbara Hoffman, Pam Barker and Vicky Burris. he also had 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. I just wanted everyone to know that he had many more family members that loved him besides one adopted son. In fact, one of his daughters was an active member of the Eastern Star.
